idk

So basically we read a bunch of good works but I really like Dr Faust. I probably did not spell that right. it shows how one can view something as immoral but it may not be viewed as that to another. This has a lot in common with society. Some view being a little bit more confident as a bad thing while others see nothing wrong with it. I think everyone needs to have an open mind a respect everyones choice as long as they aren't killing innocent lives or cause major harm to others.

Slaughter House

I would like to talk about slaughterhouse 5 in this blog. This book confused me at first with the jumping around and science-fiction like genre. I like to read books with a trustworthy narrator and this book did not have one. The first lines stating that this is a story really show how the author wants the reader to be detached from the book and know it was a story. Which helped me understand the book a little more. After reading the book and talking about it in class with the Socratic seminar I understood it more. it is really just showing how war severely affects soldiers and cause ptsd. We can assume that the author is using personal experience and events to write this book which helps me understand the narrator better by looking at the authors past. With out the Socratic seminar I probably would not understand this book at all. I now have a deeper understanding for it and actually kind of enjoy it.

Little things in Life

This section in English I feel brought up the most conversation with in the class. it was fun  to discus everyone's belief's but also fun to debate against each other. Is it fate, chance, or something in-between is what was the main drive to our discussion's. Oedipus was my favorite to discuss. Fate does not exists, but one thing effects another. I do not think that everyone has a predetermined fate but that there are thing's that will happen no matter what. No matter what you will die, no matter what you can not go back in time. But there is a lot that you can determine. Like to go to school or to not go to school. That one decision can effect if you miss the most important lesson of your life or the school shooting. One second can change your life forever. We should not worry about that though. I feel like you got to live in the moment and not worry about how one action could change everything. If you do that then you will always be worried and never enjoy yourself. Take time to smell the roses I guess and just live your life. Im not saying "yolo" and be reckless and raise hell, im just saying LIVE! Go out and have fun but also plan for the future. Don't take everything for granted as everyone does today and enjoy the little things in life.

The fountain head by Ayn Rand is a book that really made me feel conflicted inside. It showed how society makes you conform to what they want and everything is a power struggle. You can't step on others to get ahead but you must get ahead somehow. I honesty hate Rand because she is a hypocrite but love her because she shows the flaws in society so well. No matter what, to get to the top, you must step on others. Even if you don't mean to it has to happen , someone has to fall. It's like in movies or stories or legends, when you save a life a life has to be given. But this is when you move up, someone has to fall. Rand made it seem like it would be so easy not to step on others but it isn't. It's survival of the fittest. A weak beta wolf is the beta for a reason. The alpha stepped on top of that wolf because it was better. Life is like that and no matter what, good intentions and all, you must have someone fall if you ever want to reach the top. I'm not saying you should purposely go out and knock people down anyway possible, but just know that if you want to be king of the hill you're somehow going to have to get up there.
